ELS Landscape Architecture Studio is the collaboration of designers whose focus is to create outdoor environments that respect the history of southern Louisiana while blending contemporary and sustainable elements into well-crafted designs.

The ELS team is comprised of professionals with experience in both design and implementation.  With 8 years of experience ranging from residential and commercial landscape architecture to park and plaza design, the newest member of the team is Justin Lemoine.  Dawson Ellis and Jeremy Spikes each have 14 years of design and implementation experience on jobs of all sizes and scopes.  The combined portfolio provides a breadth and depth of knowledge in varied realms of professional practice that forms ELS Landscape Architecture Studio.

Justin Lemoine has 10 years of experience in crafting responsive designs at all scales from residential to parks, planning, and large public plazas.  Immediately after college, he helped to develop community master plans, worked on recreational master plans & amenity centers, developed community identity packages, and designed detailed native planting plans throughout central Texas.  After moving back to Baton Rouge, Justin began to further develop his knowledge of native Louisiana plants and ecosystems.  He has designed re-naturalized drainage networks on a number of projects that provide additional habitats for native flora and fauna, while helping to improve the environment.  He has designed the stormwater management system of BMPs at a High School in Baton Rouge focused on conserving campus green space and recreating the region’s natural ecosystem based on Louisiana hydrology and native plant systems. Other projects include a 200+ acre hospital campus and a number of city parks. These ecological planning initiatives are instrumental in improving overall water quality within Louisiana.  Justin also served as the project manager for the North Boulevard Town Square, a $9Million public plaza in Downtown Baton Rouge.  This plaza integrates sustainable drainage, increased green space, seamless pedestrian accessibility, and technology to create a mutli-purpose public space.  Since its completion, the projecthas been home to over 300 events and has won a number of local, state, national, and international design and construction awards.

Dawson Ellis is a 2006 graduate of the LSU Landscape Architecture program.  As founding partner of Me-Moes Lawn & Landscape, Dawson has 16 years of experience as a design/build Landscape Contractor.  The knowledge he has gained through his experience proved useful during his three month internship in Costa Rica.  There, Dawson worked in a Landscape Architecture firm specializing in resort, hotel, & neighborhood design.  In Baton Rouge, Dawson has designed and installed dozens of landscapes of varying sizes.  His years of experience with management and maintenance provide him with a depth of knowledge about how landscapes age and evolve with time.  This experience translates into landscapes that provide years of beauty and function.

Jeremy Spikes is a Licensed Horticulturist and Irrigation Contractor with 16 years of experience as a Landscape Contractor and founding partner of Me-Moes Lawn & Landscape.  There, with Dawson Ellis, Jeremy has developed design plans as well as management and maintenance plans for landscapes throughout Baton Rouge.  Jeremy’s experience with installation and maintenance provide him with a deep understanding of construction techniques that result in low-maintenance, durable landscapes that cater to each client’s individual needs.
